Kirkwall Orkney

Comprising of over 70 islands, the Orkney Islands is an island group in northern Scotland situated 10 miles north of the coast of Caithness. Orkney. The Mainland, the largest island in the group is the sixth-largest Scottish island of which Kirkwall is the administrative centre.


Orkney is world famous for its spectacular archaeology. Orkney contains some of the oldest and best preserved archaeological sites in Europe and the "Heart of Neolithic Orkney" is a designated Unesco World Heritage Site.
If one site has come to represent Orkney's ancient heritage, it is the Ring of Brodgar in Stenness.
